Recently added to the DMV Distributing portfolio are the Sasanokawa Yamazakura Junmai-Shu Sake, Sasanokawa Fukunoka Junmai Ginjo Fu Sake and Sasanokawa Shozu Yamazakura Black Label Blended Whisky from the Sasanokawa Asaka Distillery. The Sasanokawa Asaka Distillery is located at Kōriyama, a city in Fukushima Prefecture, Japan. The Asaka Distillery is the oldest local whiskey distillery in Tohoku, which was created by Sasakawa Sake Brewery in the 2nd year of Meiwa (1765 AD). The distillery benefits from exceptional local natural resources including water drawn from the depths of Lake Inawashiro, one of the largest lakes in the country. Asaka is a traditional distillery, with ancestral methods and know-how, which makes a point of offering refined whiskies in the image of their country.
Sasanokawa Yamazakura Junmai-Shu Sake
Sasanokawa Yamazakura Junmai-Shu Sake has a rich aroma of shiratama and marshmallow, scents of green apple, young banana and fresh greenery. A refreshing acidity and sweetness with a pleasant bitterness with unami on the finish. Any Sake with Junmai-Shu in its name bears the credit of not holding any distilled additives, richer and fuller body with subtle acidity. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Sasanokawa Fukunoka Junmai Ginjo Fu Sake
Sasanokawa Fukunoka Junmai Ginjo Fu Sake is produced by a renowned distiller with a rich history. This sake offers a delightful and complex flavor profile that can elevate any dining experience. On the nose, floral notes, ripe melon and green apple. On the palate is a silky texture revealing a balanced combination of pear, citrus and a subtle touch of umami. The finish is clean and refreshing, leaving a gentle rice sweetness.
Sasanokawa Shozu Yamazakura Black Label Blended Whisky
Sasanokawa Shozu Yamazakura Black Label Blended Whisky – Asaka is a traditional distillery, with ancestral methods and know-how, which makes a point of offering refined whiskies in the image of their country. On the nose is brown sugar, dried fruits with smokey notes coming from the bourbon barrel along with fragrant sandalwood. A sweet taste of the malt remains lively on the palate with developing notes of raspberry, mellow sweetness of Japanese sugar and a small amount of spice. Medium finish with bittersweet woodiness and gentle peat incense.
